Tarot and...?

Alta

Besides Tarot, my main 'other' interest is the I Ching. I like crystals, am starting to really like runes a lot and of course, my Magic 8 ball which is more fun than flipping a coin.

For me the I Ching interest started in the early 80's and lasted, very intensely for probably 15 years. I will never leave it entirely but I use tarot a lot more now. I am terrible with oracles, I have bought some but discouragement keeps that collection from getting very large. Runes, I just started via the rune reading circle (thanks Barbara Ahajusts!) and so far I am impressed.

Crystals, well, I am attracted to them but don't feel them. Spiritually I follow the Christian path. With a few 'minor' additions that I don't mention in church. :)

I have always tried to read everything and that included the bible (had to), Quran and other religious texts because I find it interesting. In the same vein I read everything about the occult, tarot, astrology, criminology, forensics, psychology as I was facinated with the way people work. I started seriously studying tarot firstly a few years ago, then went on to psychic development, adding new skills along the way including studying astrology, then finally here I am now studying Trance Mediumship. I am not religious though
I am a 'natural psychic' which isnt a term I totally agree with but until I find a more fitting one it will do, meaning I was born into a family that didn’t surpress the things I saw felt etc, so from a young age I saw spirit and didn’t think it was unusual to have them around…I was never short of 'friends' at home:) I think people are all born psychic until we are conditioned not to believe in it, the only difference for me was I had a supportive mother who herself had some abilities.

Now as an adult I am rediscovering things, and its lots of fun. I love trying new things , that previously I might have been more skeptical about like angels. Crystals I have a few but only because they are shiny and pretty, but I don’t have an affinty with them yet, as I don’t with wicca or other forms of witchcraft and spell casting

I think I might be trying shamanism next, am going to start by meeting my power animal…

I do love science, but I don’t think it holds all the answers and I don’t think its evolved enough to capture what is really happening and all aspects, they still havent figured out the human body!

Not trying to pry, not asking any specifics, but in the general area of what one might term, metaphysical, is tarot it for you or are you interested in other things that tarot is just part of? I mean anything else, like crystals, a Pagan or Wiccan path, just into nature, or is tarot pretty much it? Again, not trying to ask specifics or pry, just wondering if tarot it for you of and in itself, or part of other interests in the very general metaphysical world.

Let's see....I am also into Oracles and Angel cards of course. And I do love to read Runes too! I LOVE my Runes, but it does take a long time to do a reading with them.

I do have a crystal divination set that I love to play with too.

I have a number of pendulums but they don't work predictably for me.

Automatic writing is always fun as well....There must be more I am not thinking of...I will have to remember later and add it in. LOL

Me: mainly (mostly is the more right word) Tarot, with the addition of some Chinese philosophies, a little bit of Greek philosophies, a little bit of astrology, a little bit of Kabalah, a little bit of palmistry, some psychological (I'm majoring in it right now) and; considering from practical uses, Tarot can be used as a creative problem-solving tool, showing the path and shed light on the darkness of the unknown.

Wow, THANKS ALL!

I'm fascinated by where, and how, everyone started, what they're also into now and what kind of lead them down the tarot road. I see many have a kind of traditional academic background like me in some ways, liking subjects like psychology, philosophy, religion, history, all kinds of things (which do all link together). I think I started in psych because I found the inner workings and spiritual side all interesting, but psychology was the most traditional to go about it and besides for a long time, people who were into the metaphysical at all, even in the sixties, weren't always seen in the most favorable light, so perhaps I didn't (or did) take it too seriously. But it's funny how all our paths, no matter how different or long, brought all of us here, now. Thank you again for sharing your interests, they're wonderful and diverse, as are all of you.

Namaste with a capital N,

tarot of course , and runes. i have had some excellent readings with runes. i love reading these posts, and as you said how it all brought us here no matter where we came from, or our beliefs. i am a great believer in never judging anyone; and what is right for THEM , is right for them. whatever form of faith, beliefs they have. no one is to judge, anyone. i have been doing alot of spiritual reading. anything i can get my hands on. sue monk kidds spiritual journey, judith orloff md, and now am looking into thomas merton, who was a monk. his writings. a lapsed catholic, though my basic faith remains, in my own way, i consider myself a christian mystic. whoever your higher power is, or how anyone reaches it is all good as far as i am concerned. i have had some clairauidence experiences, and some other experiences in my life, that i do believe i have a gift. always learning. peace out to everyone and your path, however and wherever the journey takes you.

My first love was astrology and then when I was about 19 a friend at university read my palms and literally blew me away. I thoguht I have to do this so I got every book I could about palmistry and practiced and practiced until I could do it expertly. This was in 1998.

In 2006 I began to get interested in Tarot after I did a psychic fair as a palm reader and swapped readings with a medium who told me my biggest strength would be Tarot cards. I bought shed loads of books, sat diplomas and began practising as a professional palmist and tarot reader that year.

I hold a diploma in Lithomancy (I can read fortunes with crystals) and Tasseography (tea leaf reading. I read many stes of oracle cards and can do runes as well.

In 2008 I got really interested in Wicca and practised as a white witch but decided I preferred Christianity.

I am now a psychotherapist, counsellor, life coach, Reiki Master (i try to live my life by the Reiki principles)- I really really love my Reiki. I combine it with psychotherapy and do distant healing on people's past traumas. I also specialise in treating mental and emotional disorders with Reiki and I am waiting to be attuned to the Arch Angels as my healing guides and also Rainbow Light Healing System parts 1 and 2.

I have written (unpublished) books about how to tell fortunes with crystals and also how to use the crystals as a tarot tool. I wrote a book about magic during my Wicca phase.

I prefer working with the Thoth. I have tried to get away from Tarot but it always finds me back so I guess it is destined to be

I think I first got interested in tarot and divination in general because I practice my own brand of Witchcraft.
It's still an integral part of my craft.

Scientic method, want both sides or several re a topic, not a pessimist, but a bit of a skeptic, then there is the side that would love to see a unicorn.
Yep, that's me. A unicorn would do, but I want to see a mage! The power of the mind made manifest through magic! ;)

I've never really been interested in anything I'd classify as 'paranormal'. Ghosts, Ouija boards, psychics - they're just not as interesting to me. I don't not believe they exist or work; it's just that I don't have any personal experience, and haven't yet made up my mind and don't see a reason to. *shrug* it's not something that attracts me.
Wow, I couldn't have said it better myself!

I use the Tarot for personal exploration. I never took a psyche class in my life (or on philosophy), but I would count Jung as my primary interest (for now), and all Jungian psychology is linked to. And then I would say the I Ching and Eastern philosophy (Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism). Although I have had an interest in Eastern philosophy longer than Jung (or the Tarot). Oh, and I love history! There is really nothing new...

But I am still building this list... I am not very interested in any other forms of divination but I am (always) interested in other sources of information, wisdom, and most importantly, experience and understanding.
