Ok, so now I have a bone that needs to be dug up. I am trying to find studies on the medical uses and applications of Calcite (green or other colour) and of other crystals. I will post any link to a certifiable source of information (clinical, geological or scientific) that I can find in the healing uses of crystals. This does *not* include any form of metaphysical ("New Age") anecdotal evidence.
If you care to trawl the web with me, perhaps we can come up with a number of factual, scientifically researched healing applications/studies of stones and crystals
I will post as I find...I have found an interesting study on plant steroids, where they actually reduce the plant into crystals, which are then ground and used in medicine (Aryuvedic, principally) but I am not sure if that counts as crystal, so I will leave that one out. Here is a geological page on the uses (medicinal and otherwise) of Calcite (since I began searching for that.)

ETA - Also, on Amazon, I did find a dissertation that is available to order called:
Dissertation: Crystal Medical Uses of the Research Scientist for Advancement of Biochemical and Medical Technologies [Hardcover] by Maria S. Hammock.
and so obviously some studies are being made in that direction.
and also, crystals are used to create several different pieces of medical equipment...indirectly related to healing, of course. http://www.cradley-crystals.com/CCinit.php?id=applic
From the reading I have done this afternoon, it is becoming increasingly clear to me that certain crystals such as calcite harbour some bacterial life forms that are very useful in the field of biomedicine to control disease (primarily of the digestive tract) and are increasingly being used to create more stable cements to use in the maintenance of building materials, creating much more stable bonding of the stones to the cement. So far, so good...so, some crystals are useful Certainly calcite has been used in optics and optometrics, due to its ability (in certain forms) to display birefringence http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcite
