Stones for chronic pain?

dawntarot

Greetings all,

I've been trying to find stones to help with chronic pain. From what I can gather, moonstone, clear quartz and lodestones are my best bet - please correct me if I'm wrong here.

I have these stones and many others, but I have only ever used them for colour therapy. I have no idea what I should be doing with them to get the vibrational benefit. I have tried lying down with a quartz point in each hand, one pointing towards my body and the other away... I have felt the pulse and found it helps but not for very long.

I believe this really works - I just don't know what to do. So I'm open to all suggestions! :)

Thanks for your help,
Dawn

I had never heard of lodestones before, so I googled. :D I see it is also known as Magnetite, which is good for muscle strains and cramps. The amethyst is a great pain reliever. just wear it as a piece of jewelry is supposedly helpful. You can also tape a piece of amethyst to the center point of where your pain is. It should draw out the pain and replace it with calm and soothing relief.

Rose Quartz is another fantastic crystal. It is very soothing. I put one in my pockets and whenever I feel I need to be calmed or soothed, I will hold onto them and they seem to work well for me that way. It also is great for calming your emotions too.

A clear Quartz crystal, one that is not polished, but still in the raw shape and especially if it has many clusters on it is suppose to be the best in giving out positive energies and getting rid of any negative energies. It is a powerful crystal that will also rejuvenate your other crystals. It can benefit you just by being in the same room as yourself. Which, I believe is true of all crystals, really.

I guess the best way to use a crystal like the clear quartz crystal above would be to meditate with it and perhaps to keep it clean and not cluttered up with all the negativity it is absorbing. Perhaps when you are in a lot of pain, just holding it will also help? I'm not sure to be honest, but it's a start.

Celticnoodle has given you some great recommendations...

According to my crystal bible, Boji stone, Chrysocolla, and Celestite are said to be very good for chronic pain, as are Jet and Lapis Lazuli. I would also add Amber (master healer) and green Calcite (said to rearrange the DNA into healthy patterns) ;) to the mix. Green calcite is now being scientifically studied for its healing properties.

you can read up about them at www.healing-crystals-for-you.com :) good luck, Dawn, and I hope you feel better soon!

ETA: In no way did I mean my post to suggest that crystals can be used *instead* of medical treatment...And Dawn, I do hope you are using them as they are meant to be used, as complimentary medicine :) and I am sure you must have also addressed your chronic pain issues with certified medical specialists...

lol! I wish I could, TCO - I was just in Jasper Park in the Rockies, doing some crystal hunting in the icefields on Edith Cavell...and I went first to the local rock and gem shop as the owner knows all the local stones...He has been running this stone and gem shop for many years. He has many huge and fabulous crystals in his shop from all over the world...and he was the one who informed me of these studies. As he seemed incredibly down-to-earth and well-informed, I took him at his word ;) I will do some online research and see what I can find on the subject, and post my findings (if, indeed, there are any! ;p )

There are quite a few links to be found through Google Scholar. I haven´t had time to check them yet so I´m not sure which ones are for the actual Crystal itself and which are for other compounds. But it looks interesting.

Thanks for the direction, Hemera, I was intending to use Wiki but as it turns out, Google Scholar had quite a few interesting sites. :)

I did find this link in Google Scholar, which offers a study of natural products now being studied for use in healing. http://www.isrn.com/journals/ms/2012/983062/
They did mention calcite in the coral section (3.3) as being part of the medicinal properties of coral. I am still searching for specifics on Green Calcite, so if I find a good study, I will post it in a new thread. :) as we are now going off topic.

I'd also like to recommend a stone called infinite.

shungite

I have no idea if this would help for chronic pain. http://www.healing-crystals-for-you.com/shungite.html I've carried a piece on me for a few days and didn't notice any difference with my feet...but it may take time or possibly need to be placed where the pain is. I have pain in both of my feet and I did notice when I carried howlite my feet and ankles felt better. And I noticed a big difference in the way my feet felt after I put the howlite away.

My suggestion on how to use the crystals would be to experiment with them. For example when I worked with labradorite and carried it in my pocket....I didn't feel its vibration but my senses were sharpened. When I tried meditating with it and placed it over my head I could feel its vibrations all the way down to my feet. So depending on where the pain is...you could try simply holding the crystal in your hand...put it on your skin where the pain is..or even try putting it on the chakra closest to where the pain is. You'll figure out what works best for you : )

Thanks for your suggestions :) I have sought medical help, I've got fibromyalgia so there isn't a physical "cause" of the pain, as such... the only real medical "solution" is amitryptiline which I refuse to take :p That's why I've started trying complimentary therapies as I think they are more likely to help me than the "orthodox" medicinal route ;)
